Make it seven, seven Canadian NHL teams.

The website Make It Seven was started by Jim Balsillie to show the grass roots support for a new NHL team in Southern Ontario. This is a great idea because it allows the ‘pent up’ desire for another hockey team to be seen.

If you aren’t from Toronto or surrounding areas, you might know how difficult it is to get hockey tickets. My quest to get Toronto Maple Leafs season tickets began in 1999 and as of this post I am still on the waiting list. To make it worse, for the last two years I haven’t moved a single spot. Maybe by the time I am 80….

Single game tickets are nearly impossible but I usually get a couple of pairs each year. The order of priority getting single tickets are::

  • Season Ticket holders – this means that games like Pittsburgh and Washington are sold out before the game is available for ‘non-season ticket holders’.
  • Maple Leaf Insiders – they email a code to use on TicketBastard. This is how I get my tickets for my team, New Jersery Devils. About 5 minutes after the tickets go on sale all Leafs games for the year are sold out.
  • Regular Folks – no chance because all the tickets are sold out! The ‘funny’ part is that the Leafs still make a big deal about being able to buy tickets even know that all the games are sold out.

Mr. Suck, this shows adding another Southern Ontario team would be fantastic. Why do you hate Canada so? Don’t you realize that everyone wants this…. EXCEPT you!

Gary Bettmann ( Mr Suck ) is completely ignorant to the fact that the actual owner of the Coyotes is over $300 million in debt , and that the area is completely incapable of supporting an NHL franchise, Who the hell didnt see this coming ? Hockey in the desert was never going to work ! Ticket sales are brutal, the team is brutal, and the fact that even Wayne Gretzky has aged well beyond his years while he’s been in that arid retirement villa of Phoenix, is proof it is time yo get the hell out of there !
I dont know what Bettmann has against another franchise in Ontario, but it don’t matter to him cause he gets tickets everywhere !! He is not a fan of hockey , this is his playtoy to see if he can become some revolutionary pioneer in the eyes of others ! All hail the ne w commissioner ” Don Cherry ” !!!!

I don’t get it. Gary has to be the dopiest leader in sports. Only Gary would try his damnest to keep out a multi billionaire who loves hockey and had a market primed to sell out. Instead, Gary tries his level best to keep ownership of the team to lose 40 million a year in a market that cant even muster 200 people to the “save the Coyotes” rally.

What really had me thinking tho Gary is a moron was his assertion that he would rather move the team back to Winnipeg than to Southern Ontario. No offense to those from Manitoba, I hated seeing your Jets leave in the first place, but your arena is 3000 seats too small, there is no corporate base of suckers willing to buy the boxes that make the big money to pay the salaries, and we all know Gary said what he said to turn us Canadian fans against each other. He has no more interest in putting a team in Winnipeg than Jim Balsillie does. If he cared THAT much about the Jets, they would have never been forced to leave in the first place guys…

Gary is an idiot, and has been one for quite some time. I just wish the morons that call themselves the board of Governors of the NHL would figure this out.

Good going Bettman you have totally screwed up a deal that would have been a huge benifit to the league, its time for the board of Govenors to
vote this guy out and move on for the better of the league, fans, and future
generations, yes its time to part ways.

  5. johnny mac says:

    Fire Bettman now.

  6. bond says:

Moving them too Ontario is not going too keep them from going bankrupt.
Leaf fans are loyal even though leaks suck now, there fans are not going too jump ship. My cousins live 45 min from ottawa and there still leaf fans.
It would take 10 years for the kids around there to grow up and become there fans. Halifax would be a better city although like Hamltion both cities are to small for a team. I thought Ottawa is having money problems too.

Sorry my canadian friends, It would be better to just let them go out of business. There are too many teams in the leauge and not enough talent to go around. The quilty of play is getting worse every year and just pisses me off.

What a fine mess you have made of my beloved game you bastard bettman, colin campbell needs too get his dumb ass fired.
