Mr. Suck pulled off a another first the other day…just by showing up he caused 20,000+ people to boo during the Stanley Cup FInals. Bettman is getting booed alot. This is probably the first time the Cup has been booed…and it is all because of Mr. Suck.
To make matters worse, Mr. Suck politicised the Cup presentation by talking about people ’saving’ the Pens. Lobbing about the Coyotes is just terrible at the biggest moment of the NHL season. Gary Betman, doing stuff like this is why people hate you!

made the NHL almost invisible by allowing ESPN to walk away from the coverage. The tiny amout of money Versus pays the NHL for broadcasting rights is pathetic compared to the exposure the NHL lost by not being on ESPN. This was one of the greatest playoffs ever and no one saw it.
Rapid expansion into markets where hockey does not work not only waters down the league but hurts the game with teams not interested in spending real money to improve but dragging overall league revenue down hurting the players and the cap.
The crease rule, the instigator, the unbalanced schedule all horrible byproducts of Bettman.
Trying to keep the Coyotes in Phoenix, which has been proven (due to its losing 200M) to not be a viable hockey market. That’s a good bonehead move
oh yeah, and the stupid foxtrax puck. He was all over that. And anything related to poor scheduling, trying to cater to the american networks, which had TERRIBLE viewership numbers.
The Cup was not booed. Bettman was booed, ferociously. The tool thinks he is the be all end all of sports and yet continues to do everything in his power to get the hockey fans and players to hate him more than anything in the world.
He needs to just resign and let the league try and heal itself.

Well what about the stanley cup playoff game with Pens and Caps, or with Crosby and Ovie. Game 7 of that series and he contracts it out to versus, which no one has. When instead of letting NBC show the game, where millions of people could watch some of the best players go head to head.

10. the trapazoid people get hurt from it and it doesn’t change play at all
9. he’s keeping teams in shit areas and letting them leave areas that need them (minnesota north stars, winnepeg, ect)
8. he is forcing youth goalies in USA hockey to wear less then adequate protection by making the gear to small and flimsy ( taking cheaters off the catcher gloves getting rid of thigh boards)
7. form fitting jerseys again screwing usa hockey youth leagues poorer leagues cannot afford these
6. trying to eliminate fighting anyone who has played hockey knows how frustrating the game is and more people go to a game to see hockey then avoid the game because of fighting
5. forcing phoenix to stay maybe not another canadian city but let them move to an area that wants a team and can support them (seattle, madison, fargo, kansas city, winnipeg)
4. losing the nhl’s contract from ESPN to Versus NO ONE HAS VERSUS all he’s doing is losing money for the NHL and their teams
3. making smaller pad sizes in order to increase scoring not only does this hurt youth players by being forced to buy new pads SCORING HAS GONE DOWN
2. An idea to increase the size of the net by 1 foot in height the net has been same same since the game has started and fans would rather watch a close game then one that is 20-15
1. The lockout…. what do i need to say about this? Congratulations Asshole the only thing your going to be remembered for is being the FIRST commissioner to allow a season to be canceled for a WHOLE SEASON
Lets not forget the worst sin of all. Bettman allows the NHL playoffs to directly compete with the NBA playoffs. IT doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure this one out. Start the season one month sooner and avoid the whole thing.

Garry Bettman sucks because he don’t want to to loose some teams like Coyotes. I think the worst thing has been made is the numbers of expansions in the last years. Now, there is 30 teams and the half don’t sell the tickets. And the tickets are too expansive, it’s a real joke! 24 teams would be a good number, and I want to see teams at QUÉBEC AND WINNIPEG. Hamilton is not a good choice because it’s to near of other teams and they already have a team named BullDogs in the american league.

Betman is trying anything possible to keep another NHL team out of Canada, so he can push an American market that has already proven to fail. He should get his head out of his ass for once and think of the League and not his personal feelings. Canada has proven to be a fantastic NHL market and has topped the league in teams revenues with only a minimal amount of teams in Canada compared to the States. I wish it would be possible to boycote the NHL until Betman resigns and gets his ass out of there. Maybe he’ll try to bring back the tracking puck!! What a Joke!

What an ass!! I will personally boo him if he ever comes to Southern Ontario, but that will never happen because he doesn’t want any more teams north of the border!!! Biggest hockey market in the world and we can’t even get tickets to an NHL game.
Gary sucks because he squanders one of the NHL’s greatest assets – the Original Six — every year. Rather than doing what a sensible commissioner would do and place them in the same division, he has split them apart. Some of sport’s greatest rivals now play each other only once a year. Why has he done this? So he can keep the owners in places like Nashville, Carolina, Columbus, Atlanta, Phoenix and Florida happy. What a dumbass!
There should be four divisions, with the top four teams in each going to the playoffs. There’s no need for Western/Eastern Conferences. Should play your division teams six times and everyone else once or twice.
Original Division: Original Six, plus Ottawa
East Division: NY Islanders, Philly, Jersey, Washington, Carolina, Tampa, Florida, Atlanta
Central Division: Columbus, Buffalo, Nashville, St. Louis, Minnesota, Dallas, Pittsburgh,
West Division: LA, San Jose, Phoenix, Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver, Anaheim, Colorado
One thing a lot of people seem to be missing out on is the sad fact that what is happening to the Coyotes is exactly what happened to the Nordiques and the Jets. Small markets, low revenues, small fan base.
Although Phoenix is the 5th largest city in the USA, it has a small market for the sport, low revenues and a small fan base. On the other hand, Baseball and Football are huge in that part of the country. The football stadium for Arizona State University can hold 73,379 people! There is no rink in the NHL that holds that many people.
This sports craze is perhaps what is enticing the NHL to want to stay in Phoenix.
The city is growing at an extraordinary pace (US Census estimated 18% population growth in 2008) and has about 5.7 million people (city and metro). The sport may be foreign to the city, but given the size of the population, the NHL may be betting on the chance of a growing fan base. They just need an owner whose willing to gamble on that happening.
The rink, other than having a horrible name, is a top-notch facility with a great view regardless of where you sit. The fan base is there too. They may be small now, and not as vocal as us Canadians (yes, I am from Montreal!) but they proudly wear their jerseys to games even if they at first needed a paper pamphlet to help them with the rules. Some already were fans, some became fans.
Besides all the court proceedings and flaunting of cash, the fans are the ones being kicked around. And that doesn’t help the cause for or against a team in Phoenix.
If both sides of the Coyotes “conflict” worked towards the best outcome for the sport, perhaps we’d see an end to this, and we could all go back to talking about Martin Havlat’s twitter feed!

Bettman is a joke. He does not have the respect of the fans, which he has to admit is far more important than the executives he’s trying to “protect”. Without fans you nimrod, the whole league would dissolve.
Keeping a team like the Coyotes in Phoenix has proven not to be a viable city for the team to remain in. For those who are saying give Phoenix a chance? Well, they have had the team since 1996. 13 years of ownership I believe is enough time to determine if the team is going to continue to grow.
I am in Southern Ontario, and am a true leaf fan, but I would love to see a team in Hamilton as well. For those who say that there are already two teams in southern ontario, well Ottawa is 452 kilometers away from Toronto (280 miles) therefore a good 4 – 5 hours drive away. There are no other teams in Southern Ontario.
Take a look at New York however, there is only a 38 minute drive betweeen the Islanders and Rangers. Even just less than 2 hours away from New Jersey. So the defence that Hamilton is too close, is not founded. It clearly works in other cities!
I really do believe that Gary Bettman finds it difficult to admit that Canada can be a much more viable option than many of the US cities. Take a look at the players in the league, and you will find that majority of the successful players are from Canada. That is predominantly because they have been fans from a young age. Why not allow the fans to receive another team in Hamilton? I would venture the guess that it has to do with a typical American Ego. That’s about it.
The defence that an American team should remain in America. That is fine, but where was that logic in 1996, when this team was stolen from Winnipeg. Return this team to Canada. Let us build this team to a strong team. And when they are done, we will accept Gary Bettman’s resignation, for not recognizing an excellent opportunity for the league and it’s fans.
The other argument is that the Toronto Maple Leafs are a strong force trying to prevent this from happening. While that may be the case, it is unreasonable. As much as I am a fan of the leafs by default, the MLSE has lost their die hard fans as well by making tickets extraordinarily expensive and now the audience is predominently attended by corporate people who are either not even really paying attention to the game and may not even be a fan. They are there for shmoozing, and that’s about it.
The MLSE needs to accept the competition, and give themselves reason to actually strive to win the cup again. So once again a competitive team nearby in Hamilton will only boost things for the league as well.
Why can’t the league and whomever else see how much of a no-brainer decision this is. At the very least, this should have been resolved months ago, as it has dragged on for much too long.
And that’s all I got to say about that!

Let me bounce a couple more reasons Gary Bettman sucks, neither of which has anything to do with Hamilton, Quebec City or Winnipeg.
He’s the man in change wat a time when P.A. announcers have stated to do this utterly assinine “(Home team) is on the POWER PLAY!” It makes a major league sports attraction come across as bush league. It must be stopped NOW!

I think bettman has rigged the entire nhl. right when pittsburg was about to be bankrupt the drafted crosby and started to win. (He did not want pittsburg to move). this year same thing happened with phoenix. it almost moved and now they are starting to win again with basically the same roster as last year.
Also last year detroit got so many penalties and they are one of the cleanest teams in the league 2nd cleanest. i also think he rigged the 2005 nhl entry draft in pittsburg favor. watch how far the phoenix coyotes are gonna go this year in the playoffs because of bettman
